Hey Mom,

Sounds like things are good and exciting as ever back there.  I'm sure the church dinner will go well.  I wish we could be there too.  Nothing like a lot of church ladies and their cooking.

Let me know how all of Allies vascular stuff goes.  I'm really hoping that they can do something to get him feeling a little more steady on his feet.  I know it's very frustrating for him.

Things here are starting to wrap up.  I heard today that if they let me go home with the company I've been with here since May, I may fly out as early as 10NOV.  That would be awesome, but I'm afraid to get my hopes up as nothing is official yet and there are still two other companies that are trying to snag me for the last month or so to do some local womens health clinics.  I say it's too late and much like peeing in the ocean....won't make no difference at this point.

The Taliban guys are trying to end all of this with a last big hoorah!  Until today we had been rocketed each day for the last week.  This usually tends to happen in the day time right before supper.  Two nights ago the sent in three rockets after dark though, which is pretty unusual.  It was just after midnight and I had finished watching a movie on my computer and had turned it off and was settling down when I heard some helicopters flying in,,,, which was odd because I didn't know anyone was going or coming,,,,but there were some finance guys flying in late....well any way, right after that there was a loud whistling sound, which here always means incoming rocket....Never thought I could roll from my bed to the floor so fast.  I laid there and heard 3 more come in quickly after that and couldn't decide if I should crawl under my bed or scramble to get dressed and run out to a bunker that is about 50 yards away.  I opted for the get dressed....first I put my sweatshirt on backwards and then got my scrub bottoms on and flip flops and then ran like crazy for the bunker.  Everyone else was out running to.  Once we get in the bunker though we have a pretty good time.  One of the cooks ran out to the little kitchen and brought back snacks for everyone.   One of the finance guys that got off the helicopter came running to the bunker (it's a concrete barrier) and ran his head into the top of it as he didn't duck down enough.  Knocked himself out cold....Luckily he ran into the bunker the doc (me) was in... other than being embarassed and getting his bell rung good, he did ok.  Finally got back to bed about 01:30.  What a night.  That's pretty much the excitment around here for now.

Ken will be in the area at the end of OCT.  I guess that was what he emailed about.  And you are right....He is the best.  I believe I really knew what I was doing this time around, no matter what everyone thought.  HUH?

Our bible study group just finished up for the night and I wanted to check in for emails before I hit the bed, but I believe it is almost that time.

Oh....I still haven't gotten the socks.  I'll let you know when they get here, but there is a plan in place for distribution...I'll let you know afater the fact.

Ok.  Love you and tell Allie hey too.
